Questions before the journey
A concise starting point. The linked detail pages hold current rates, timings, and arrangements.
What kind of resort is Arasatu?
Arasatu is an eleven-villa private marine resort on Maratua Atoll, with eight Floating Villas above coral-rich seawater and three Sea View Villas directly on the cliff.
May non-staying visitors enter Arasatu?
Arasatu is reserved for registered staying guests. Public day access, casual walk-ins, and outside dining are not offered.
Does Arasatu have a beach or swimming pool?
Arasatu has no sandy beach or conventional swimming pool. Guests may swim in the natural seawater below the Floating Villas and Samamea when tide, current, weather, and safety conditions allow.
How large are the villas?
Every Floating Villa and Sea View Villa is 55 m², comprising a 35 m² interior and a 20 m² private outdoor area. The Floating Villa has a private deck; the Sea View Villa has a private balcony. Standard occupancy is two guests, while the approved guest mix determines whether one extra bed is required.
Where do guests dine?
Samamea is Arasatu's floating dining venue. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner follow the published daily rhythm, while meal plans, dietary needs, celebrations, and current arrangements are best confirmed before arrival.
How do guests reach Arasatu?
Guests may fly to Maratua Airport or continue by sea from Berau or Tarakan. The Arasatu team can help check the current route and coordinate the final connection to the resort.
Are island journeys fixed in advance?
The team plans each sea journey around the route, destination access, weather, water conditions, boat, and availability for the day. Wildlife encounters remain natural and cannot be assured.
Can first-time guests try scuba diving?
Beginner Discovery Scuba is for one guest, includes two dives, uses no boat, and is IDR 2,500,000 nett. It may be arranged by request on selected dates only when a currently qualified instructor is available. Certified-diver journeys are planned around experience, certification, conditions, and team guidance.
Can diving equipment be hired from Cocoral?
Yes. Daily nett rates are IDR 200,000 for a BCD, IDR 150,000 for a regulator, IDR 100,000 for fins, IDR 50,000 for a mask, IDR 100,000 for a wetsuit, IDR 40,000 for a snorkel, and IDR 200,000 for a dive computer. A BCD, regulator, wetsuit, fins, and mask set is IDR 600,000 nett per day. Cocoral confirms sizing and availability.
Is complimentary Wi-Fi available throughout Arasatu?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout Arasatu, including all 11 villas, Samamea, the lobby, and shared guest areas. The property uses an Omada Wi-Fi 6 network, with internet connection provided by Starlink.
Which practical guest services are available?
Front Office, security guards, and motorbike rental are available. A large lobby parking area is available only for vehicles already on Maratua; it does not mean guests normally arrive by car.
Where is smoking permitted?
Smoking is prohibited indoors. It is permitted outdoors, including on private decks.
What are the direct-booking cancellation terms?
Direct website bookings are non-refundable once confirmed. Cancellation does not create a refund, credit, or voucher unless Arasatu confirms an exception in writing or mandatory law applies. One reschedule may be requested at least 48 hours before the scheduled check-in. The rescheduled stay must be completed within 12 months of the original check-in and remains subject to availability and any rate difference. OTA bookings follow the applicable platform and rate-plan terms.
Who should guests contact for current arrangements?
Share your dates, guest count, preferred villa, and the experiences you have in mind with Arasatu’s reservations team. They will help confirm availability, routes, rates, and current arrangements.
