Via Berau — our recommended route
Fly from Balikpapan (BPN) to Berau (BEJ), then continue to Maratua by the regular daily speedboat. The sea crossing takes around 2.5 hours. A limited flight service from Berau to Maratua Airport (RTU) is another option when available.
Via Samarinda — a flight alternative
From Balikpapan, travel by car to Samarinda Airport (AAP), then fly to Maratua (RTU). Depending on the connection, you may need an overnight stay before the flight.
Via Tarakan — an option from Malaysia
For guests travelling from Malaysia, Tarakan (TRK) may be a useful gateway, with an onward boat crossing or flight to Maratua, subject to availability.

Your arrival by sea
A private charter from Berau port arrives directly at Arasatu. Regular boats arrive at Teluk Harapan public port on Maratua; arrange the onward transfer with our Front Office team in advance.

Public-boat fares are set by the independent operator and differ for Indonesian and international passengers. As a planning guide, arrive at Pelabuhan Sanggam before 09:00 WITA. This is the recommended time to reach the port, not the boat’s departure time.
